Opening Remarks
Transactions of EPS in March
1902 reported on the opening of the exhibition:
“Mr Lang Todd emphasized the well known
axiom that the road to success is through our failures; that if
we studied our failures instead of discarding them, there would not be
such a long succession of them. |
Opening Concert
Transactions of EPS reported
that the Opening Remarks were followed by a concert arranged by F P
Moffat, with the following entertainment:
- Madame Hamilton Kedslie: a
couple of violin solos.
- Miss Meta Brotchie: a dance
and song in Japanese character.
- Miss Mina Watt: a pianoforte
solo
- Mr A E Moffat: a couple of
violoncello solos
- Miss Lucy Hamilton + Mrs Nesbitt:
accompaniments with much taste |
Medals
Transactions of EPS reported
on the awards to be made at the exhibition:
“A new principle, as far as this
Society is concerned, was introduced this year, in that the
competitive element was absent.
One class only of medal was given, and the
number to be awarded was left to the Judges' discretion. One
picture did not, therefore, compete with another, but all had to pass
a standard of excellence fixed by the Judges themselves."
