Edinburgh Photogrpahic
Society's Open Exhibitions in the 1870s were normally held in November or
December. I have
not yet discovered much detail about these exhibitions, though a reading
of the Journals of the 1870s editions of the British Journal of
Photography would probably produce an interesting insight into these
exhibitions. The
project at Glasgow University, recording the Correspondence of William
Henry Fox Talbot has discovered correspondence of 28 February 1874 from
John Nicol and Malcolm Dobbie on behalf of EPS.
The letter announced that Talbot had been awarded a silver
medal (presumably in the 1873 EPS Exhibition) for three specimens of
Photoglyphic engravings. |
